A designer, an illustrator and a now, a wannabe writer. Please wish me luck with my novel!
Meet Marshal Michel Ney.
1st Duc d’Elchingen, 1st Prince de la Moskowa and one of Napoleon’s most trusted commanders. He was extremly loyal to Napoleon and fought until the very end. It´s said that at Waterloo´s Battle, he fought like a lion against the Allies after promising Louis XVIII to bring back Napoleon “in an iron cage.” Napoleon would say: “Ney is the bravest of men, and therein lies the limit of his faculties.”
When he was about to be executed on December 7, 1815, he said:
"Soldiers, when I give the command to fire, fire straight at my heart. Wait for the order. It will be my last to you. I protest against my condemnation. I have fought a hundred battles for France, and not one against her… Soldiers Fire!”
Brave until the end!
My muse for this drawing was Freddie Mercury!
I was listening to “We will rock you” and “We are the champions” when I decided to draw Marshal Ney. I bet that he would so sing the latter song if he were from the XXth century! ;)
